Much of my work is inspired by the scientific world, mathematical patterns at every scale, and vintage designs. I frequently feature hexagons and the isometric grid in my work; I admire both the strength of its natural form, and its use as a quasi-futuristic architectural element. I try to incorporate a sense of fun and irony in my work, often by juxtaposing nostalgic "retro" prints or themes with contemporary social sensibilities.

I embrace the aesthetic of the "modern" (whatever that means) quilt movement and the expressive possibilities in art quilting. I am a member of theĀ Studio Art Quilt Associates and theĀ Modern Quilt Guild. In addition to quilting, I teach geography at Central Connecticut State University, and my husband and I homeschool our two boys.
